Summer Fun with the Kiddos and July 4th recipes

I've been hanging out with these hoodlums for the past 10 days.  (Yes, that's my foot)

From sun up to sun down there has never been a dull moment.

This is the time to take a break from life.

Who cares about the laundry?  Who cares about the crumbs all over the kitchen floor?

There's pee all over the toilet seats, dolls all over the house, candy wrappers, popcorn, shoes, socks, teasing and a few fights, late nights, early mornings, dozens of squishy cookies, gallons of milk....

The zoo, Snowbird, swimming, movies, picking raspberries from the garden and eating most of what we pick, swinging, jumping on the tramp, colorful murals on my windows, coloring on a long sheet of paper the length of the kitchen floor, talking, laughing, making memories.

Next week I'll clean the toilets, pick up the wrappers, vacuum, weed the garden, do the laundry...sigh....while missing my grandkids AND I'll start posting more fun recipes.

Until then enjoy these all-American recipes for your July 4th celebration.

Nothing is as American as apple pie.  Slab Apple Pie

Cool of with Pomegranate Mint Sorbet

My favorite  Watermelon Arugula Salad

A colorful picnic try Orange Broccoli Fettucine Salad

  1. Ohhhh, you've been with the grandkids! They're huge! and the pee is back! That's a thing I don't miss from living with my brothers...
