Apple or Pumpkin??

I'm torn.  Should I focus on apple recipes or Pumpkin recipe?  Apples are so crisp and perfect right now. yet I want to put pumpkin in everything I cook.  The pumpkins from my garden and perfect for roasting.

Slab Apple Pie or Apple pie squares as my Grandma called them is one of my favorite treats for an autumn lunch box or just an easy and fun dessert to take to an Autumn potluck dinner.

My sister-in-laws recipe for Fresh Apple Nut Cake drizzled with a fat sauce will leave you licking the bowl.

I want this for breakfast.

On a healthier note I should be baking up a batch of healthy Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Muffins.

Perfect for breakfast, snack or a lunch box.

Pumpkin Coconut Bisque warms me on a chilly fall day.  It's an easy bisque to prepare.  I love having leftovers hanging out in my refrigerator for a quick and warming lunch.

Quite a conundrum.

I'd love your opinion for upcoming posts.  Apples or Pumpkin?

My granddaughter, Emi, would say, "Both".

You could always take a challenge and try some recipes with quince or pears? Maybe? Please?

    1. Lucky parents! Quince? Hmmm I'll have to see if I can find quince in my area. That could be more difficult, but quite the challenge.

  2. Personally, I far prefer apples, especially because pumpkins are everywhere at the moment. But maybe your Granddaughter is right, how about both?

  3. I'm always in favor of apples. It doesn't hurt that I live in Washington where apples are everywhere. Personally, I've never been a big pumpkin fan.

  5. I have been obsessed with all things pumpkin lately. However it is hard not to love a nice crisp apple, especially here in Massachusetts! We live about 5 minutes from an apple orchard that makes some of the best apple cider donuts in the area. So I will have to say "both", anything you come up with will be delicious no matter what!

    1. The best apples I have ever had were in Mass. The Macoun apple just makes my mouth water. You have many varieties that we don't have in the west.

  6. Emi is a smart one. But if I had to choose, you just can't go wrong with pumpkin. Whenever I hear Andy Williams crooning "It's the most wonderful time of the year," I figure he's talking about pumpkin spice latte season.

  7. How about savory recipes for both? Like your pumpkin bisque, or a savory pork and apple combo? They are both fabulous in their own ways, but (unfortunately) I can only eat so much dessert! But I have to make delicious, savory goodness for dinner every single day!

  8. Janet,

Do you think you could make your slab pie with BOTH pumpkin and apple filling?
